Move your website: how to switch suppliers without losing anything.

Moving a website to a new supplier is easier than most people think: done right, the content, design and Google value all come along, with no downtime. At Beat Web a move starts at SEK 2,990. This guide covers how it works and what to check before you cancel anything.

Why companies switch suppliers

The three most common reasons we encounter: support does not answer or charges per question, costs have grown without anyone being able to explain what they cover, and the feeling of being locked into a solution you do not own. If any of these sound familiar, you are in good company.

First things first: own your domain

The domain name is your most important digital asset. Check that it is registered to your company, not to the agency. If it is registered to the supplier, request a transfer before anything else happens. A serious supplier helps without argument, and hesitation is itself a red flag.

How the move works, step by step

1. Review. We look at your current site, where it is hosted and what should come along. Free of charge.

2. The copy is built. If the site is in WordPress we move it as it is. If it sits in a closed system, like many template platforms, we rebuild it in WordPress with the same content and design.

3. Redirects are set. If addresses change, every old address is redirected to the right new page, so the Google value comes along.

4. The switch. When the new site is finished and approved, the domain is repointed. Visitors notice nothing.

5. Operations take over. Updates, security, backups and support run from day one, with us from SEK 790 per month.

Will we lose our Google rankings?

Not if the move is done right. Google follows 301 redirects and transfers the value to the new addresses. What sinks sites during moves is carelessness: addresses changed without redirects, pages forgotten, or a new site slower than the old one. That is why redirects and a speed check are always included when we move sites.

Locked into a template platform?

Sites in closed systems can rarely be moved as they are, because you rent the technology rather than own the site. The solution is rebuilding the site in WordPress with the same content and design, which is exactly what our moving service from SEK 2,990 does. Afterwards you own the site and can move it anywhere, even away from us. Read more about WordPress operations at Beat Web.

Checklist before cancelling the old agreement

Make sure you have: access to the domain, a copy of all content including images, exported email accounts if they sit with the same supplier, and the new site live and verified. Cancel only when all of the above is done. We help with every item as part of the move.

Frequently asked questions

No. The domain is yours and the content is yours. The supplier must hand over what is needed, and if they do not do so voluntarily there are established processes for domain transfers.

No. The new site is finished and approved by you before the domain is repointed. The switch then takes from a few minutes up to a few hours, and the old site answers until the new one has taken over.

A pure WordPress move often takes a few days. A rebuild from a closed system takes longer, depending on the size of the site. You get a timeline in the quote.
